Have you built something of your own?

We want to hear your story.

BizTold features the people behind real businesses — how they started, what they learned, what worked, what didn’t, and what happened along the way.

You don’t need to run a huge company.

You don’t need millions of dollars in revenue.

You don’t need a famous brand.

We’re interested in the story.

What we’re looking for

We are interested in businesses across a wide range of industries and business models, including:

  • Local businesses
  • E-commerce
  • SaaS
  • Agencies
  • Freelancers
  • Service businesses
  • Creator businesses
  • Online businesses
  • Family businesses
  • Consumer brands
  • Mobile apps
  • Consulting businesses
  • Side projects that became businesses
  • Bootstrapped companies
  • Startups
  • Unusual or unconventional businesses

The most important thing is that there is something interesting behind the business.

Maybe you started with $500.

Maybe your first customer came from a Facebook group.

Maybe you built the company while working another job.

Maybe you failed several times before finding the right idea.

Maybe you discovered a marketing channel that completely changed your business.

Maybe you built a successful business without following the conventional path.

Those are the stories we’re interested in.

What does a BizTold interview cover?

Every conversation is different, but interviews may explore topics such as:

The beginning

How did the idea come about?

Why did you decide to pursue it?

What did you do first?

The first customer

How did you find your first customer?

What did you learn from those first few customers?

The money

How much did it cost to get started?

When did the business begin generating revenue?

What are the economics of the business today?

Growth

How did you find customers?

Which marketing channels worked?

What changed as the business grew?

The difficult parts

What was harder than expected?

What mistakes did you make?

Were there moments when you considered giving up?

The lessons

What do you know now that you wish you had known at the beginning?

What would you do differently?

What advice would you give someone starting a similar business today?

What’s next

Where is the business heading?

What are you working on now?

What are you trying to achieve next?

You decide what you share

We understand that businesses often have confidential information.

You are never required to share revenue, profit, expenses, customer numbers, or any other information you don’t want to disclose.

If there are topics you cannot discuss, simply let us know.

We would rather publish a useful and honest story than pressure someone into sharing information they are uncomfortable making public.

How it works

1. Tell us about your business

Send us a short introduction and tell us what makes your story interesting.

2. We review your story

We look at submissions and decide whether the business is a good fit for BizTold.

3. We arrange an interview

If we’d like to feature you, we’ll send you questions or arrange an interview depending on the format of the story.

4. We write the story

Our goal is to turn the conversation into an engaging, useful article rather than simply publishing a transcript.

5. We publish

Once the story is ready, we’ll publish it on BizTold and may also share it through our social channels.
